Selecting Ladder Cable Trays

Side rails and spaced rungs provide an open cable route with good access for laying and inspection. Commonly selected for larger power cables, with rung spacing and supports matched to the cable requirements.

Configuration inputs

Width, side-rail height, material thickness, rung profile and spacing, cable weights, support span and fittings.

How to choose ladder cable trays

  1. List cable diameters, weights and cable manufacturer support/bending requirements.
  2. Agree ladder width, rail/rung profiles, rung spacing and support span.
  3. Select material/finish for the exposure and coordinate joint/support positions.
  4. Confirm bends, risers, covers, clamps, supports and bonding requirements.

Materials, finish and order scope

Discuss pre-galvanised GI, hot-dip galvanised after fabrication, powder-coated steel or the specified stainless-steel grade. Confirm sheet thickness, coating requirements, quantities in pieces/metres and accessory schedules.

Approval before manufacture: Cable loading, support spacing, route and finish must match the approved project requirements. A thickness alone does not establish tray capacity. Freight, unloading, installation and site responsibilities should be stated in the quotation.
